Chess is the one of the oldest and most popular board game.Chess originated from the two-player
Indian war game, Chatarung, which dates back to 600 A.D.
In 1000 A.D, chess spread to Europe by Persian traders.
Chess is an strategy game . It is played on a chessboard with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid.
At the start, each player controls sixteen pieces: one king,
one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights,
and eight pawns. The player who moves first controls white pieces, and the other controls black pieces.
The object of the
game is to checkmate the opponent's king, whereby the king is under immediate attack (in "check")
and there is no way for it to escape. The game can end in a draw also .
Chess is more a game of experience than it is of intelligence, although intelligence helps a little. Much of it
is memory and pattern recognition. There are 1,327 named
opening and variants. A Grandmaster in chess
knows about 12,00 opening. To become a grand master, a player must be at least elo rating of 2500.
The first World Champion, widely considered the "father of modern chess," is Wilhelm Steinitz.
From 1886 to 1894, he was the first official World Chess Champion. Till today’s date,
Magnus Carlsen has been world champion since he defeated Viswanathan Anand in 2013.
